Contractures due to persistent involuntary contraction of a muscle or group of muscles of the body. They can occur in any muscle in the body but most commonly in the neck, back and shoulders.

The causes of contracture may be by fatigue after excessive muscle strain, or due to other factors such as stress, distress or anxiety that can lead to an emotional state of tension which allows the muscles to relax . It is also common due to poor posture coupled with the lack of physical exercise.

The best treatment for contractures is that we can give a professional massage therapist, an osteopath, physiotherapist, or through chiropractic, acupuncture or yoga. An excellent home remedy for contractures is to baths with epsom salts in the affected area, mixing two or four tablespoons of epsom salt per liter of water.
