Varicose Veins: What’s this?
Varicose veins are damaged in which the blood circulates poorly. They are bluish, dilated and twisted, and may be more or less prominent.
An estimated 15% to 30% of the population have varicose veins. Women are two to three times more affected than men. In most cases, varicose veins are formed on the legs. They may also appear in the region of the vulva (vulvar varicose veins) or scrotum (varicoceles).
Damage to the veins are permanent. It is possible, however, relieve the symptoms associated therewith and prevent the formation of other veins, and the problems that may arise.
Types of varicose
In 95% cases, varicose veins mainly affect saphenous veins, that is to say, the superficial veins which go back down the leg veins and their tributaries. These varices are the result of a set of risk factors (heredity, overweight, pregnancy, etc).
In a minority of people, varicose veins are caused by inflammation of deep veins (deep phlebitis) which eventually reach the network of superficial veins.
Evolution
People who suffer from varicose veins to chronic venous insufficiency. This means that their venous system has difficulty in securing the return of blood to the heart.
* First signs: pain, tingling and feeling of heaviness in the legs, night cramps, swollen ankles and feet. They may also feel itchy. These symptoms are magnified when prolonged standing or sitting still.
* Appearance of spider veins and varicose veins: spider veins affect very small veins. They are not very prominent and resemble a spider web. They are not usually painful. As for varicose veins, the veins are larger and more dilated. They are often accompanied by symptoms related to early signs of venous insufficiency: tingling, heaviness, swelling, pain, etc.
Treatment for Varicose Veins

Specific treatment for varicose veins and spider veins will be determined by your physician based on:
- Your age, overall health and medical history
- The clinical severity
- Signs and symptoms
- Your tolerance for specific medications or therapies
- Expectations for the course of the disease
- Your opinion or preference
It is possible that medical treatment is not necessary if there are no symptoms. However, sometimes varicose veins may worsen if not treated. The treatment of varicose veins include surgical and nonsurgical methods.
Some non-surgical methods for treating them are:
Elevation of the legs
Be instructed to elevate your feet above heart level 3 or 4 times a day for 15 minutes each time. If you need to sit or stand for a long time, flexing (bending) your legs to help maintain blood circulation. If you have mild to moderate varicose veins, can reduce swelling and relieve other symptoms elevating your legs.
Compression stockings
These elastic stockings squeeze or compress the veins and prevent excess blood from flowing backward. In addition, compression stockings can help the healing of skin sores and prevent the formation of more blisters. Compression stockings are effective in treating varicose veins if worn daily and may avoid the need for more invasive treatments.
Causes and Symptoms Varicose veins
Varicose Veins is a plague that not only men but women too much worry because of this disease.
Excess weight and lack of exercise did not contribute to many diseases that appear among the urban population. Urban areas but may prefer men with diabetes and hypertension, to a certain extent but not Varicose veins.
The tendency to develop varicose veins run in families, the reason for this is unknown.
Some experts believe there are weaknesses in the genes that regulate the development of blood vessels. This can cause defects in the valve structure and blood vessels or, in some people, reducing the number of valves in the blood vessels, causing some to get overloaded in their duties. Overcoming Methods Blood vessels and Disease Varicose veins

Varicose veins occur as a result of poor blood circulation causing excessive expansion and continuing through the blood vessels. Arteries carry blood from the heart to the legs, and long veins and elastic channel has a valve to prevent backflow of blood and return it to heart, but sometimes weaken the walls and the valves stop working.
Possible causes
The main cause of the appearance of varicose veins including descendants (a more family members who suffer, the greater the chance that you’ve inherited), the use of contraception (female hormones play an important role in the expansion of blood vessels), a work that has been standing for hours or sit too long (and it also includes domestic work, more hours of standing, but must bear the venous pressure at the ankle), trade developed in contact with high temperature, physical activity, excess weight, alcohol and tobacco, diet deficient in vitamin E and became the mother of many children (pregnancy increase the amount of blood they need to manage the blood vessels, and the long months of pressing the fetal pelvis, thus preventing a good flow). Varicose Veins: which treatment to choose?
New techniques of treatment of varicose veins have emerged and are increasingly used. Sclerotherapy, laser, Chiva, What are the results of these interventions lighter than surgery? A report of Anaes an update on the issue.
Varicose veins and tired legs are very frequent diseases. It is estimated that three out of four people have varicose veins during their lives and for one in four symptoms are bothersome enough to warrant medical treatment or surgery. In recent years, techniques have improved and new methods have emerged, promising treatments lighter and in theory less traumatic. But what are their real benefits? The answer with experts from the National Agency for Accreditation and Health Evaluation (Anaes).
Shoo reflux
To understand the techniques employed, some anatomical details are needed. The blood flow in the legs in a deep venous network, located in the heart muscle, and in a superficial network, under the skin. This superficial network is affected by varicose veins. It comprises two main veins, both large and small saphenous, who bring a game of blood into the deep network, and secondary veins, smaller. To prevent the stagnant blood in the superficial veins, antireflux valves are distributed throughout their journey. In case of failure of these valves, reflux occurs and the vein is dilated, forming a varicose vein visible under the skin. Read the rest of this entry »
Definition of Varicose Veins Sufferers

Avarices is a permanent dilation of superficial veins.
It is a medical condition. Varicose veins are classified by size. In this site will be treated as varicose veins most “big”: the reticular veins (0.6 to 4 mm) and truncal varices or collateral, over 3 mm. Their care is identical.
Varicose veins are the most frequent ones found in the lower limbs: legs and thighs.
Other locations may be varicose veins: the scrotum (called varicoceles), vulva, rectum (hemorrhoids). The management of varicose veins is also special and special is not the purpose of this site
Varicose Veins Affect Mainly the Legs.

Varicose veins are swollen veins Standing. Varicose veins affect mainly the legs. Varicose veins are hereditary and often aggravated by certain factors (pregnancy, obesity, heat, prolonged immobility sitting or standing ). physical activity and elevating leg rest is useful to limit the appearance of varicose veins. The stockings can compress the veins dilated and restore better blood circulation. In the extreme case, stripping will remove the main vein with its branches sometimes under general anesthesia.
Homeopathy will not remove varicose already formed, but will struggle against side effects.

Venous Insufficiency

Some 55% of women and 30% of men complain of heaviness in the legs late in the day. If we add hemorrhoids and pelvic pain in women, one realizes that the venous insufficiency a big part of us.
Heavy legs, night cramps, marbling, spontaneous bruises may be early signs then appear edema and varicosities. Varicose veins, they relate almost 60% of the population. Our sedentary lifestyle, and changes in our diet (poverty in fiber, vitamin E) only serve these disorders.
Subsequently, trophic disorders associated with edema develop: changes in pigmentation, dermatitis, eczema and more serious varicose ulcers related to defective healing in poor oxygenation of tissues and accumulation of toxins.
Contributory factors.
Physical inactivity.
- Overweight.
- Constipation.
- Pregnancies.
